Education and Spiritual Center offers a peaceful and nurturing
environment for pilgrimages and other programs, individual retreats,
and family and community gatherings. Borderlands Center is located
at Borderlands Ranch that occupies 135 acres of high plains, pine
forest and slate cliffs in the Pe Sla - the heart of the
heart of Lakota sacred land -the Black Hills of South Dakota.
The activities of Borderlands, grounded in the common values of
Lakota and Celtic heritage and spirituality, are dedicated to the
work of personal, cultural and environmental reconciliation. Through
educational and spiritual events, programs and retreats, Borderlands
Center offers to seekers, travelers, pilgrims and casual visitors
an environment that promotes the healing of ourselves, our relationships
and our Earth. Interfaith, intercultural and intergenerational,
Borderlands offers programs and experiences of worship that honor
and are inspired by the created order and its many faith traditions.
Everyone who comes to Borderlands, whether a casual visitor or a
spiritual pilgrim, becomes part of the global community.
sacred quality of this land to many ancient people, as well as to
people today, and its geographical uniqueness throbs through the
layers of quartz, slate, and soil. The high plains and mountain
wilderness surrounding Borderlands is exceptional. One can stand
on the top of Flag Mountain and see several states in all four directions,
seek a place for quiet reflection at nearby Deerfield Lake or hike
numerous trails all around.
There is much to learn from listening to the land and hearing the
accumulated wisdom of the people who have lived and died here. Borderlands
is a place where you can break through the boundaries of your world
and communicate with that which is beyond all that you have previously
of the Prairie
